Tour de France? - perhaps not, but Tour de Charente certainly. The roads are not endlessly flat, but not too challenging either. Destinations from a few kilometers - the local villages - to much further afield for the fit!   

 

For the pros with their own road bikes, there is good covered storage here, secured within the enclosed courtyard, and a cool pool and quiet terrace to return to after a day of exercise.

Bike hire is straight forward.  The fabulous BikeHireDirect will drop your hire bikes to you here at the house - very good quality bikes, @ for example €100 per couple for 5 days (including helmets, locks, delivery ad collection. Car bike racks available).  Whether this is to go to the village daily for those breakfast croissant, to peddle about some of the small roads near to the house, or to tackle some of the well mapped circular routes that are detailed on their website, this will get you out and about without having to bring bikes with you.
